What I'm wearing, loving & looking for.
Party shirts, towel-adjacent skirts, and all things Christmas-core.
Hello! A few new followers to this thing, so I firstly wanted to say thank you for signing up, and sorry for not sending out an issue in a few weeks. I’ve been a bit tapped out!
In lieu of having a big point of view on fashion at this particular moment, I thought I’d make this edition a compendium of what I’m currently loving, wearing and shopping for. Like a style stream of conscience. That’s a nicer word than “dump”, isn’t it.
What I’m wearing.
Party shirts in bright velour, embroidery or prints. I’m obsessed with this red floral one I got at the Alemais warehouse sale (one of the best I’ve ever been to, if you get a chance next time!) and wish I got the matching wrap skirt.

The linen shirt was a gift from Morrison that I wore on a recent “field day” in Bondi. I have these shopping days every few weeks in Sydney where I scan the market for research. You can’t write about fashion when you’re completely lacking inspiration, and I love where I live, but it exclusively stocks wholesale leisure-wear for women over 50. So this Morrison shirt though - I don’t think I’ve ever received as many compliments on anything. Women were literally stopping me on the street.
If you want a statement piece for the silly season I think a party shirt is a great option due to the versatility. The only thing is that people tend to remember them because of their novelty-factor, so you can’t necessarily roll them out regularly. Wow, I accidentally wrote an essay about shirts.
What I’m loving.
Wrap skirts and robe dresses. Really into anything that feels like it could cross over from beachwear to eveningwear. The terry towelling trend isn’t going anywhere, but I’m also into soft cotton and linen in this stripe finish we’re seeing around. I got this wrap skirt in Zulu and Zephyr’s Black Friday sale, and it’s one you can easily dress up or down. If I’m ever in a midiskirt it really needs to have some ease about it.
Try Venroy, Soleil Soleil, LMND, Vrg Grl or Sabo for more of this loose beachy-chic vibe - our brands do it best!

What I’m looking for.
Smocky things. Pinafores. Gingham. Little girl clothes for grown-ups. Red and green and baby blue. Like it’s giving.. Christmas-core?
British influencer Sarah Corbett-Winder does this look really well, I like how she anchors the naïveté with bold accessories and big glasses. She brings a maximalist energy to the styling, in a way that’s all her own.
Loeffler Randall does clothing with a vintage handmade feel, it’s available on Shopstyle. A local option for smock dresses that a few people have recommended me on Instagram is Daughters of India.

Loved this edition of Fash Chat and felt very validated because I also bough that same ZZ skirt in the BF sales! I was wondering if you have any tips on how to style it?
